  • "We speak as we hear"

When we compare the sounds a person hears with the sounds they produce, we observe an exact and total correspondence for all frequencies.

Listening MethodThis fact was verified experimentally in the laboratory by R HUSSON, and was the basis for a communication to the Académie des Sciences (sessions on 25 March 1957). These experiments, conducted with subjects with different native languages, not only confirmed this curious phenomenon but also showed that the frequencies emitted differ from one language to another.

  • "The right wavelength"

The more the sound register of a foreign language (such as English) differs from that of our native language (e.g. French), the more difficult it would be, to learn the foreign language for someone who cannot adapt his or her listening function.

In different terms, the person who speaks a foreign language badly is unaware that his listening is not adapted to the wavelength of the language. This distorts the whole listening-speaking chain. It does not mean that the person is incapable of learning, but the resulting losses of information necessitate disproportionate efforts for piecemeal results.

Sometimes people realize after months or years of training that they are stagnating in an endless learning process, and that they will never reach the operational threshold they are looking for in oral communication.
Everyone has the needed abilities to learn a foreign language

It's never too late for an accurate diagnosis and a learning process adapted to your needs.

Today's new sensory activation technology can restore the level of performance needed by anybody who falls short. The potential for progress is radically improved and the time required is drastically cut.
Languages Bandwith
What is bandwidth?

Language is made up of a large number of sounds, which vary from one language to another. The graph above illustrates the bandwidths of the dominant sounds in each language. For example, French is very rich in vowels, while English has a clear preference for high-pitched consonants. The sounds outside the bandwidth are less important for comprehension.

Information that is heard correctly is quickly understood and well remembered. For the brain to be able to process sound information quickly and reliably, it is very important that the message is received in its entirety, with no distortion.

"A gift for language. The Slavic peoples have a bandwidth that includes almost all the languages represented. Their initial linguistic conditioning (their native language) gives them an adaptability in listening that constitutes a significant advantage."

Everyone has the necessary aptitude for learning a foreign language. However, what is a formality for some is a Herculean task for others. The language learners who make progress easily and quickly become operational in the language have all something in common: a listening function that can easily open up and adapt to the new language.

Discover your linguistic potential with the TEA diagnosis ! The TEA is a listening test unlike any other, because it is the only test that measures, with unique precision, the three elements that create the understanding of a language. It does not measure your knowledge; it measures your capacity to acquire and use knowledge. Its strength lies in the resulting diagnosis: identifying the true source of the subject's difficulties, together with the method for putting them right. With specific, tailored action it is possible to develop the listening function's ability to adapt, giving it a much higher level of performance.

The JCP language method

This is the first fully-personalized method presented on audio files which enables you to work on your listening as if you were in the country where the language is spoken. Its effectiveness is due to the fact that the listening work done in 40 hours is equivalent to 1000 hours of listening to English in a total-immersion situation, and this is enough for lasting benefits to be achieved.

The principle: Our ears are so used to the sounds of our native language that when presented with a new language they search them out instinctively. The French language consists of 39 sounds (phonemes), while English has 48. These extra 20% of sounds are in addition to the ones our listening function is used to decoding. They can change the meaning of an incalculable number of words due to the many combination that are possible. When the results evaluated by the TEA indicate these difficulties, the JCP language method provides the necessary correction. The purpose of training yourself in listening to English is therefore to bring these new sounds into the spotlight so that your listening can learn to recognize them.
